The best new restaurants in Toronto are the new kids on the block that are knocking it out of the park. Break out of routine with a visit to one of these fresh, exciting places to eat that everyone is already loving.
Here are the best new restaurants in Toronto that opened in 2019.
Bar Vendetta is a pasta and wine bar that serves muffuletta sandwiches in the afternoon and nachos late at night.
The bar takes up residence in the old Black Hoof space and is still run by the same team, with Jen Agg (Grey Gardens, Cocktail Bar, Le Swan) at the helm.
Oo-Kinza Fish House:
Oo-Kinza Fish House is a tiny market for premium seafood and limited seating for feasts of Japanese sea urchin, oysters, and donburi.
Stumbling on this narrow corner shop in the Bamburgh Circle Plaza feels a lot like finding a hole-in-the-wall spot in Japan. It's a tight squeeze, and only four seats line its low-hanging bar by the chef's counter.
Raku is a Japanese restaurant specializing in perfectly chewy udon noodles.
Based in New York City, this sleek Japanese brand already has two busy stores in the Big Apple, where it first opened in 2016.
Fet Zun is a rustic spot for olive oil-drenched plates of Middle Eastern shareables and piping hot pitas.
Yet another destination from restaurateur Anthony Rose, Fet Zun—Yiddish for "fat son"—transforms the old Bar Begonia space from a romantic spot for French food into something a little more lively.

The restaurant is open and inviting, certainly more modern than its more traditional sushi sister restaurant.
Lapinou is a French term of endearment and the name of this neo-bistro and wine bar.
The restaurant serves dinner and Sunday brunch accompanied by an extensive, thoughtful wine list with a robust selection of champagnes by the glass.
